Founded by Cary M. Silverman, M.D., EyeCare 20/20 began as Parsippany EyeCare Associates in 1986. Dr. Silverman is a highly skilled New Jersey LASIK Eye Surgery specialist. He has also treated many New Jersey cataract surgery patients with the most advanced surgical techniques and top technology Intraocular lenses, such as Crystalens, ReStor and ReZoom. Since its humble beginning, the practice has grown to be one of the leading centers providing state-of-the-art ophthalmology services in East Hanover to individuals from throughout northern New Jersey and the Manhattan, New York City areas.

Since 1992, Dr. Silverman has performed thousands of refractive surgeries. Utilizing the latest technology, such as the ALLEGRETTO WAVE® laser system for custom LASIK surgery, Dr. Silverman is able to provide superior care tailored to the needs of each patient.
Dr. Silverman has been in consecutive editions of The Best New York Area Metro Doctors. And, since the EyeCare 20/20 is so advanced, it serves as a training facility for other ophthalmologists.
Dr. Silverman and EyeCare 20/20 attract people from all over the world. Many doctors do not perform LASIK, yet recommend the surgery to their patients and choose to co-manage with EyeCare 20/20. In these cases, and often for reasons of convenience, patients may choose to have any pre-operative and post-operative visits with their eye care professional. For example, patients from as far as California, Argentina, and Switzerland have come to us for their surgery and have returned to their personal physicians for any necessary follow-up visits.

All surgeries at EyeCare 20/20 are performed by our accomplished LASIK surgeon and medical director, Cary M. Silverman, M.D. In order to provide the most comprehensive vision care possible, Dr. Silverman works with a team of physicians to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Each doctor is an innovator in the fields of optometry and ophthalmology, and their contributions to our East Hanover practice in northern New Jersey have enhanced the quality of care we provide.
Lauren Rispoli, M.D.
Lauren Rispoli, M.D., is a 1989 graduate of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, New Jersey Medical School, in Newark. She completed her ophthalmology residency at University Hospital, Newark and received her Fellowship training at Children's Eye Care Center. Dr. Rispoli is a board-certified ophthalmologist and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, and the New York Academy of Pediatric Ophthalmology.
Dr. Rispoli has considerable experience and expertise in treating children's eye conditions, from comprehensive eye examinations, to complete medical and surgical treatment of all pediatric eye conditions.
Joel D. Eichler, M.D.
After graduating from the Johns Hopkins University and the George Washington University Medical School, Dr Joel D. Eichler performed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He was later awarded a Vitreoretinal Fellowship at the Foundation for Retinal Research/Touro Infirmary in New Orleans. Dr. Eichler enjoys certification by the American Board of Ophthalmology and membership in both the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Retinal Society of New Jersey.
Dr. Eichler's area of focus centers on the use of the latest precision technology in treating medical and surgical diseases of the retina, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration.
Nicholas Xanthos, O.D.
Nicholas Xanthos, O.D., is a 2000 graduate of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He completed his optometric residency in Ocular Disease at Omni Eye Service. Dr. Xanthos is a member of the American Optometric Society and the New Jersey Optometric Society.
Dr. Xanthos specializes in a wide range of eye care needs including, routine eye care, post-operative eye care, and contact lenses.
Martin E. Corwin, M.D., Emeritus
Martin E. Corwin, M.D., Emeritus, joins EyeCare 20/20 after having his private practice in Livingston, New Jersey since 1963. Dr. Corwin is a graduate of New York Downstate Medical School, Brooklyn New York and completed his ophthalmology residency at Kings County Medical Center, Brooklyn. Dr. Corwin is a board-certified ophthalmologist and a member of the American Board of Ophthalmology, the Essex County Medical Society, and the Medical Society of New Jersey.
